Reviving the Song Dynasty Aesthetics: Foshan Tanyue Villa

Located in Foshan City, China, the Foshan Tanyue Villa is a sample room designed to showcase the style and quality of the real estate enterprise. The designers, Yu Chao and Guanghui Zeng, chose to interpret the oriental aesthetic culture in a modern context, emphasizing simplicity and the beauty of the chosen materials. The result is an elegant mansion that integrates artistic conception, poetry, and minimalism.

The design concept of the villa is deeply rooted in the aesthetics of the Song Dynasty. The designers integrated elements of bamboos in the rain, pines in the wind, musical rhythm, tea, moon, and book together using concise techniques and materials to build a mild and graceful atmosphere. The choice of furniture accessories echoes the traditional oriental culture, replacing complexity with simplicity.

What sets the Foshan Tanyue Villa apart is its unique use of materials. The project uses special materials such as white marble and Crema Pearl to realize the communication between materials and space. The villa covers an area of 506 square meters, offering ample space for the designers to showcase their creative vision.

The design process involved extensive research into the culture and living habits of the residents of Foshan City, known for its Lingnan culture. The designers successfully integrated the city's characteristics with design elements to create a new Chinese style. The project took about 65 days for the design and about 2 months to finish construction.

One of the challenges faced by the designers was to convey a new Chinese style using elements from ancient Chinese culture and finding inspiration from ancient literature. However, they overcame this by leaving a sense of oriental Zen in the space, using objects such as charcoal burning woodwork, hand-made pottery, flowers, and tea set. The project helps people to forget about all worries in life, integrating traditional aesthetics into daily life and creating a simple but comfortable lifestyle.

The Foshan Tanyue Villa has been recognized for its innovative design and was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation, and the Foshan Tanyue Villa certainly fits the bill.
